Grandbergs - new Openkart champion!

On November 26th at Swedbank kartodroms in Kandava season ending races in both - B and Elite division - took place. After intense fight all season long up until last heat of the year veteran driver Zintis Grandbergs became the 5th Openkart champion. It was long way for Zintis to grab the title. He has participated in all 84 Elite division races thus far and have won 3 of them. Probably the most crucial victory came only a month before the end of the season, when he drove superbly and won the race from 3rd place on the in narrow corners of GoPlanet track - this by his own words - was the decisive moment of the season. Runner-up in championship Raivis Kirilovs finished just 5 points behind.
The race itself was won by 2010 champion Daniels Mančinskis after superb wheel-to-wheel racing with Mikus Narvils who came home second. Third on the podium Andris Orniņš. Kirilovs finished fifth, but Grandbergs seventh.
In division B Ivars Strencis has secured his second division title already in september. The race itself was one by Grandbergs, second place Jānis Strencis and third champion Ivars.
There is only one event left this season - Cup Race, where top12 Elite division and top8 B division drivers will meet to race against the clock and find out fastest of all drivers. Current cup holder is Lauris Rozenvalds.
